Podkstr vs Alitu

Fully automatic on one side, fully adjustable on the other. Opposite promises, for different audiences.

Podkstr multitrack editor with the compressor of a voice track open

Two opposite promises

Alitu bets on automatic processing. What it automates, and its strengths, are listed in the table below, with the date they were checked.

Podkstr does the opposite: every control is visible, along with what it does to the signal.

The two tools serve two different audiences. For someone who does not want to edit, Alitu is a good tool.

What automatic processing costs

Automatic processing decides on its own, and its decisions stay hidden. When the result sounds wrong, nothing shows why it sounds that way.

In Podkstr every effect can be seen and adjusted: the EQ curve, the noise gate threshold, the compressor's gain reduction. The adaptive DSP presets make a first pass for anyone who would rather not adjust, and every setting stays open to correction afterwards.

Price

Both price grids are in the table below, with the date they were checked.

Who each is for

Alitu for publishing without ever opening an editor, when the time saved matters more than control.

Podkstr for understanding and deciding what happens to the voice.
